Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) - the world’s leading interactive entertainment software company - announced today the launch of the Asia Pacific Crysis™ Tournament, a regional search for the best Crysis team in Asia Pacific. Starting from this month, Crysis fanatics will compete in local qualifying rounds across the region to vie for a spot in the grand finale.
From the makers of Far Cry, Crysis™ is a next-generation PC first-person shooter that combines the most sophisticated graphics and highly-evolved gameplay – requiring players to use adaptive tactics and total customization of weapons and armor to survive in dynamic and hostile environments.
After the qualifying rounds in each country, the best team in each market will represent their nation at the regional finals held at EA Play 2008 in Singapore, where they will pit their skills against the other national teams in the region to see who will be crowned the Asia Pacific Crysis Champion, taking pride and prizes back to their nation.
“Crysis is one of the most stunning, beautiful PC games in history,” said Jon Niermann, President of EA Asia. “Through this state-of-the-art video game, EA hopes to further foster interactive community exchanges in Asia Pacific and the regional tournaments and EA Play are just the beginning.”
”Crytek is constantly striving to push the boundaries of design in terms of both gameplay and technology,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. “We really wanted to create a new, unique multiplayer experience and we’re really excited that EA Asia is giving us the opportunity to showcase Power Struggle across the region."
More information on the Crysis Asia Pacific Tournament and EA Play 08 will be available soon.
